Basket Sizes

The main criteria when choosing the right basket is the number of passengers you wish to carry. Basket sizes are matched to the size of the envelope that you will be using and, together with the burner, they will make a complete system. In the table below you will find the correct combinations of baskets and envelopes. Please note, that the number of passengers mentioned in this table is calculated for a balloon operating in a temperate zone and  at relatively low altitudes. When flying either in warmer places or at higher altitudes, we recommend that you make your calculations by using the forecast temperatures and altitudes and the loading graph from the Kubicek Flight Manual. Alternatively your national Kubicek Balloons dealer will be able to advise you. A list of national dealers is available elsewhere on this web site.

European legislation limits the maximum number of passengers in one compartment to 6. In an open basket this will include the pilot. In baskets where the pilot has his own compartment one other person is allowed to fly with him in this compartment.

Dimensions and weights

* This is the exact dimension of the bottom outer part of a basket. For loading the basket into a vehicle we recommend allowing an additional 8 - 10 cm (3 - 4 inch) for handles and 15 - 20 cm (6 - 8 inch) for top padding.
** Baskets designed to fit  the Queen size cylinders can be on request built to accommodate the King size cylinders.

Note: For the Japanese market we build special versions of both the K13 and K17 baskets. These are a little narrower and come with different equipment options.
